Companion Care
What is Companion Care?
Companion Care is an intangible service that provides emotional support to the elderly and disabled. This role often goes unnoticed, but it’s one of the most important tasks we fulfill here at Realm of Glory Home Care. Caregivers provide emotional support and help those they are caring for, with daily tasks like errands, shopping, and setting aside activities.
Companion Care Vs Personal Care
Depending on the level of care you choose for your loved one, they may need companion care or personal care. Therefore, you should understand how each of the services differs.
Companions usually help with chores, cooking, and running errands. However, it does not provide physical assistance with activities such as dressing, bathing, and toileting.
Personal care, on the other hand, provides companion care plus includes physical assistance to clients. Individuals receiving personal care services can also receive assistance with non-medical problems associated with chronic conditions such as diabetes or Parkinson’s.
When receiving senior care, many older adults can age in place comfortably with companionship. Seniors may, in some cases, need more extensive assistance or care at home to remain safe at home.
